Angelina Jolie, Twins Leave The Hospital

  • Jul. 21st, 2008 at 2:01 PM
PARIS — - Angelina Jolie has left the building. Oh, and so have the twins.

Before dawn Saturday, the Hollywood superstar and her newborn twins left the French Riviera hospital where she gave birth a week ago, the hospital said in a statement.

"The mother and her babies are doing very well," reported the Fondation Lenval hospital in the southern Mediterranean city of Nice.

Jolie slipped out at 4 a.m. Saturday with the twins, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt, deftly evading most of the paparazzi who have followed the family for months in southern France, ever since Jolie arrived for the Cannes film festival in May. It was not clear if the twins' father, actor Brad Pitt, was with them.

Jolie, 33, checked into the hospital on July 2 and delivered the babies by Caesarean section ten days later. Knox Leon weighed 5.03 pounds and Vivienne Marcheline 5 pounds.

Jolie's obstetrician, Dr. Michel Sussmann, told reporters after the birth that the 44-year-old Pitt was at Jolie's side during the delivery, which he said had been pushed up from its originally planned date "for medical reasons" so the babies could be born "in the best conditions."

Did I say that?

Angelina Jolie Launching Perfume Line?

  • Jul. 16th, 2008 at 5:51 PM
Stunning Angelina Jolie is reportedly in talks to launch her own line of signature scents. The Oscar winner is working out the details with French fragrance house Coty (which recently helped create Sarah Jessica Parker’s perfume) to design her own line of products.

"Angelina wants a very strong input," a source tells Britain's The Mail. "She wouldn’t want a fragrance that she didn’t feel encapsulates her."

Having a perfume line has proven to be a lucrative endeavor for many celebrities. Other stars who have their own super-successful perfumes include Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Gwen Stefani.

Given Jolie's unrivaled star power today, it's likely her fragrances will rake in tons of cash. The venture would enable Jolie to continue supporting her many charitable causes. Jolie, 33, is a U.N. Ambassador who reportedly donates one-third of her income to charity.

Angie, a mom of four, is expecting fraternal twins with partner Brad Pitt, 44, this summer. In addition to the blockbuster animated film, Kung Fu Panda (which is in theaters now), Jolie has a movie coming out June 27: the action thriller, Wanted, in which she portrays an assassin.

For those who criticize her decision to play a vigilante, Jolie says, "The idea behind Wanted is not that she's a bad-ass assassin that just likes to kill people. It's that, if you ran into Hitler before he did everything, and you knew, should you shoot him? I would. These assassins are getting lists: They find out who is going to slaughter other people ahead of time and they remove them."

Jolie—who says she wouldn't hesitate to shoot anyone who tries to harm her kids—adds: "It is a confusing thing, certainly for rights activists. Don't read too much into it. I am holding a gun, but there are so many people that have done so many horrible things."

Jolie And Pitt To Adopt Chinese Orphan?

  • Jul. 15th, 2008 at 1:48 PM

Angelina Jolie is considering adopting another child, less than two weeks after checking into a hospital to prepare for the birth of her twins, according to reports.

Heavily pregnant Jolie checked herself into a Nice, France hospital on 29 June (08) - where she will remain until her babies, with partner Brad Pitt, are born.

The expected additions will be the fifth and sixth children for the couple - who are allegedly on a mission to add a seventh member to their family.

According to reports, the pair was so moved by the plights of children orphaned by May's (08) devastating earthquake in China, they want to adopt a child from the region.

A source tells the National Enquirer, "Even as the birth of their twins impended, Angie and Brad were already talking adoption again. She's devastated over the earthquake that occurred in China, she has been in constant touch with relief workers as part of her U.N. involvement - and even got her hands on photos of a few orphaned kids.

"She's made overtures to offer a home to one, or even two China earthquake orphans, if they're siblings".

Jolie and Pitt have three adopted children, Maddox, six, Zahara, two, and Pax, four, as well as their biological two-year-old Shiloh.

Angelina Jolie's child army just got bigger

  • Jul. 14th, 2008 at 5:48 PM

If the Earth started to feel a little more crowded this weekend, that's because Angelina Jolie birthed her twins, a boy Knox Leon and a girl Vivienne Marcheline, late Saturday night. Compared to their siblings, these two got off easy in the name department. Angelina's obstetrician Dr. Michael Sussmann updated the press on everyone's condition - then handed out lollipops; he's that good. The AP reports:

"He was very happy. ... The emotion was very strong for him," Sussmann told reporters on the hospital steps. "I felt the emotion of both the mother and the father. Angelina Jolie was speaking, was laughing with her husband. They were happy."
"The mother, the babies, the father are doing marvelously well," he said.

While this is great news for Angelina and Brad, this is terrible news for me. I lost the office pool. Here's the names I picked. I dunno how I didn't win:

BOYS:
Captain America.
Jon Voight Just Kidding I Still Hate you Daddy.
Maddox. (He won't mind.)

GIRLS:
Licorice Petunia.
~. (Pronounced "Squiggly line thingy.")
Melissa.

Congrats to the Pitt-Jolie clan! Please don't assimilate me.

The Jolie-Pitts Welcome a Son & Daughter

  • Jul. 12th, 2008 at 10:41 PM
Brad Pitt was at Angelina Jolie's side as she gave birth to a son and daughter Saturday at the Fondation Lenval hospital in Nice, France, PEOPLE has confirmed.

"The babies are doing well. The operation went just perfectly," Dr. Michel Sussmann told PEOPLE Sunday. "Angelina is in very good spirits. Brad Pitt was at her side. He was there and all was well."
Sussmann confirmed the Nice-Matin newspaper report that Jolie gave birth to a boy, Knox Leon, and a girl, Vivienne Marcheline, by Cesarean section on Saturday night. Knox weighed 5.03 lbs, and Vivienne 5 lbs.
The twins are the fifth and sixth children for Jolie, 33, and partner Brad Pitt, 44, who are already parents to Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh, 2.
"The mother and father are very, very happy," Sussmann told PEOPLE.
The doctor told the Associated Press that the Cesarean was moved forward "for medical reasons" so that the babies could be born "in the best conditions." He also said Jolie is expected to stay in the hospital for a few days.
On July 1, Jolie checked in to the Fondation Lenval hospital to await the births. The family has been living in the south of France since this spring.Jolie recently told Entertainment Weekly that she was surprised – but not daunted – when she learned she was having twins. "It did shock us, and we jumped to six [children] quickly," she said. "But we like a challenge."

She's Popping on Tuesday?!

  • Jul. 11th, 2008 at 5:38 PM

The wait is almost over.

According to a new report, Angelina Jolie will give birth to the Wonder Twins by C-section on Tuesday.
A source reports, “She can't wait to give birth because she can't stand the hospital food, and she is fed up to be in this hospital room. If she could be induced earlier she would love it, but the medical team think it's medically better to wait until next Tuesday.”

Exciting!

Kung Fu Panda

  • Jul. 10th, 2008 at 5:23 PM

Cast: Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Angelina Jolie and Lucy Liu

Director: Mark Osborne, John Stevenson

It's hard not to like Kung Fu Panda even though there have been many smarter animation films recently. It tells the story of an overweight panda Po (voiced by Jack Black) who works for his father in a noodle shop, but secretly yearns to be a kung fu fighter.

Which is why he climbs up thousands of steps to the ancient temple where the Dragon Warrior will be chosen to face off against the dreaded villain Tai Lung who is believed to be planning his escape from an Alcatraz-like prison.

Dustin Hoffman lends his voice to Kung fu guru Master Shifu who lines up five of his best students before the temple master for his selection. Shifu's "Furious Five" comprise Monkey, Tigress, Mantis, Viper and Crane, all highly skilled fighters who could crack open your skull with one deadly move. Yet, as luck would have it, the temple master picks none of them, but roly-poly Po instead to be the Dragon Warrior.

Naturally what ensues are a series of laugh-out-loud moments as this hopeless panda with a total lack of skill is trained in the art of kung fu.

The film is an easy watch, enjoyable even, despite its formulaic 'against-all-odds' theme.

The real fun in Kung Fu Panda comes from the action scenes which are packed with energy and full of crazy little moments that'll have you in splits throughout. The all-star-cast voice talent also includes Jackie Chan, Angelina Jolie and Lucy Liu, but it's Dustin Hoffman doing his best gruff vocals as Master Shifu who is the finest talent on board.

It's also impossible not to lose your heart to Po, the klutzy, couch-potato panda who gets his attitude from Jack Black's amazing voice intonations. Kung Fu Panda is a visually stunning film whose animation is part-computer generated part-hand drawn, it's the kind of photorealistic 3-D animation that makes characters and locations come alive because they're so intricately detailed and fantastically executed.

Jane Seymour clearly is in the dark about Angelina Jolie being full term in her pregnancy, because she wants the poor girl to put on weight.

She tells Ok! Magazine, "My advice to her is to put some weight on. I think she needs to keep putting on weight so she can feed those babies. I don't think she should think twice. She hasn't put on enough weight."

Jane bases this advice on her own experience giving birth to twins. "I nearly died having the twins. I had preclampsia, which is toxemia, and I had to have an emergency C-section and I almost lost my life. So my advice to her is to listen to your doctors and if they say bed rest and they say blood pressure cuff every hour and they say whatever medication they say, you should take it very seriously."

It's nice that Jane is concerned, but she doesn't need to scare Angie! Not everyone has complications during their pregnancies, and if Angelina was in trouble, we're sure her extensive team of doctors is experienced enough to deal with it!

Jolie is doing just fine in the hospital

  • Jul. 5th, 2008 at 5:25 PM

She is a patient like any other … very simple and for whom I have a great deal of respect.”
In Nice, France the talk of the town is Angelina giving birth. According to Doctor Michel Sussman, Jolie’s doctor in French Riviera hospital, actress is doing well and is expected to give birth to twins in the coming weeks.
During a brief news conference Doctor Sussmann gave few details away but declined to response to a question concerning the sex of the expected babies or the likely birth date. Sussmann told reporters at the Lenval hospital:
What she needs now is simple surveillance by monitoring to ensure the good health of her babies in the weeks to come.”
and have arrived to the hospital on Sunday by helicopter and have bodyguards secure their suite.
Doctor Sussman added:
Mrs. and … Mr. , told me to let you know that she is doing just fine at the moment.
The greatest celebrity couple also are the parents of three adopted children - daughter Zahara from Ethiopia, son Pax from Vietnam and son Maddox from Cambodia, and have one biological daughter together, Shiloh, who was delivered by Caesarean section two years ago in the African country of Namibia.

This is the reason why Miss Jolie is so early in the hospital, she needs the post C-section check up.

Good luck and take care, Angie.

Jolie twins are in no rush to arrive

  • Jul. 3rd, 2008 at 2:58 PM
Are the Brangelina twins boys or girls? Will they be delivered naturally or by cesarean?
We don't know, but we have plenty of time to fixate before they arrive.

Angelina Jolie's obstetrician, Michel Sussmann, held a five-minute news conference Wednesday in Nice, France, to announce that the birth could be "in the weeks to come."
Apparently unaware that the stars are unmarried, the doctor said: "Mrs. Angelina Jolie and her husband, Mr. Brad Pitt, told me to tell you that she is doing absolutely fine."
The doctor said she would remain in the seaside hospital until the babies are delivered.
"I can't give you a date," he said, adding that Jolie's hospital visit was scheduled.

French medical secrecy laws are very strict, but Sussmann was able to say that four rooms and a pair of security guards had been set aside for the couple -- debunking rumors that they had taken over th entire fifth floor.
The show will go on
The actors' union and Broadway theater producers reached a tentative agreement on a new contract Wednesday, averting the possibility of a strike such as the one that shut down Broadway for almost three weeks in November.
The contract, which expires in September 2011, would increase the compensation package for actors by 11.25%

The contract must be reviewed by the Actors' Equity Association's governing body. If it is approved, it would be sent to members for a vote, which could take several weeks.

Get designer heels for a better sex life!

  • Jun. 30th, 2008 at 10:30 PM
Not in the mood for some bedroom action? Well, then head to the nearest store and get a pair of black high-heels designed by Christian Louboutin, for a survey claims that donning a pair of these shoes will not only make men drooling over you, but will also put you in the mood for love.

The survey by women’s website Handbag.com revealed that a large number of women said that wearing black high heels by designer Christian Louboutin makes them feel sexier. Experts have also said that the red-soled shoes are more likely to get those blokes awestruck.

While Louboutin’s shoes were voted most likely to turn girls on, recently Italian researchers also claimed that heels over 2 inches boost women’s sex life by exercising pelvic muscles.

Celebrities who donned these shoes include Gwyneth Paltrow, who sported a pair at the Iron Man premiere in New York, Angelina Jolie, Posh Spice and Sex and the City’s Kristin Davis.

“The classic black heels by Christian Louboutin are women’s favourite shoes to make them feel sexy. Wearing them makes women feel more attractive – and also more likely to catch a man’s eye. So donning these designer heels could lead to better sex and far more of it,” the Sun quoted Handbag.com fashion editor Belinda White, as saying.

Louboutin confessed that he crafts heels to “slow women down and give them a sexier gait”. In fact, almost one fourth of the 2,500 women who were a part of the survey confessed that they owned at least five pairs of shoes they had never worn.

Angelina Jolie has been dropped by Japanese cosmetics giant Shiseido in favour of a younger model in the form of the Agyness Deyn.

The 33-year-old star has been Shiseido's ambassador since 2006 - but after two years of appearing in commercials and print ads for the brand, she has been outed from her post by the Brit supermodel.

Deyn can be seen as the brand's new spokesmodel in their Fall 2008 Maquillage ad campaign.

It's not the only contract pregnant Jolie has lost recently - she parted company with fashion house St. John last month, ending a three-year relationship with the company.

See Jolie's and Agyness's ads side-by-side below.

A lonesome little robot outshined Hollywood queen Angelina Jolie over the weekend as WALL-E, the new Disney/Pixar film, grossed $62.5 million to top the weekend box office . Jolie’s assassin thriller ‘Wanted’ opened in second place with collections of $51.1 million, according to Exhibitor Relations estimates.
Ironically, industry insiders were skeptical about the impression of WALL•E, a post-apocalyptic love story between robots who are left on a garbage-strewn, abandoned Earth. It was being considered the animation studio's toughest sell.
However, it became the studio's ninth straight No. 1, debuting at about $10 million higher than projected and marking a tie for Pixar’s third biggest opening. In addition, it won recommendations from 96 percent of the nation’s critics, making it one of the best-reviewed movies of the year.
The makers insist that the animated WALL-E is not only for children. More than 20 percent of the audience was adults without children, says Chuck Viane of Disney, which distributed the film. Pixar "doesn't just make family films. These are movies that appeal across the board."
Although figures favor WALL-E, Angelina Jolie’s ‘Wanted’ was a superior film. Debuting at about 800 fewer theaters than WALL-E, Jolie’s action film outdid the animated movie, by nearly $500 per screen. ‘Wanted’ beat predictions by $11 million.

The two movies together kept Hollywood on a roll. The top 12 movies took in $179.2 million, up 22 percent from the same weekend a year ago, when Pixar's ‘Ratouille’ had brought in $47 million at its opening.

Revenues climbed for the fifth straight weekend. The earnings are up 6 percent over last year for the summer season that began May 2, according to box-office tracker Media By Numbers.

Bert Livingston of 20th Century Fox says a struggling economy may be the advancing force behind overall business. "People simply aren't traveling as much, and movies are still the cheapest form of entertainment," he says. "I wish the stock market were doing as well as we are."

Jolie keen on Sin City 2

  • Jun. 26th, 2008 at 2:35 PM

Pregnant actress Angelina Jolie is apparently keen on starring in Sin City 2 after she gives birth to her twins.

Jolie is thinking of acting in Sin City 2 because she is interested in what director Frank Miller will come up with next. And she wants to do more action movies after having starred in the Lara Croft movies.

Jolie loved the 2004 release of the comic book and Miller is keen to have her be a part of the movie as well. He already has a character in mind for her to play.

The actress said: "I found the first Sin City impressive, but I don't know what they're going to do with the next one to make (it) as original as the first one. I'd be curious. I think he's (Miller) a genius."

The first Sin City was released in 2005 and starred Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis and Elijah Wood.

Review: Wanted

  • Jun. 23rd, 2008 at 2:29 PM
Wanted (cert 18), Apollo Cinemas, Morecambe
IN the clips of 'Wanted' on television it looked a mediocre film at best but the reality is totally different.
It was brilliant!
Director Timur Bekmambetov (who've I've never heard of) has managed to make the most action-packed, exciting, on-screen experience of recent years – and I don't believe he's had nearly enough credit for it.
The stunts in this film were quite simply breathtaking and featured cars, trains and computer keyboards (you'd have to watch to find out why).
They had the eight people in screen four on the edge of their seats. The actor that deserves the most praise is James McAvoy (who plays Wesley Gibson) as his performance was terrific.
He plays a neurotic accounts manager totally bored with his life until he meets a sexy woman called Fox (Angelina Jolie) and everything changes.
After nearly being shot up in the pharmacy by an assassin, the pair flee and she introduces him to The Fraternity, a secret society of assassins, headed up by Morgan Freeman.
Gibson is first broken in and then learns the special skills an assassin would need, including shooting the wings off flies and curving bullets around an object to hit a target.
His performance was first rate, very convincing, and very believable.
Angelina Jolie did a lot of eyelash fluttering and shot some smouldering looks but made the best out of her role; I thought she was quite good, although the critics slammed her.
Morgan Freeman was a bit aloof and frankly his part could have been played by a lesser known actor just as well but never mind.

The storyline was a bit basic but was easy to follow and frankly the action more than made up for the plot. There were things in this film that I had never seen before, it was original, ground-breaking and totally unique.

If you enjoyed Die Hard 4.0,Iron Man or Mission Impossible 3, this film would be right up your street.
